CHS Volleyball Cancellation

October 16, 2020
Dear Students/Parents/Guardians,

It saddens me to share that CHS will not participate in Volleyball this season. This was not an easy choice to make; however given the circumstances it is the right choice. First and foremost is always the safety of our students and staff. In
addition, we have been notified by conference officials that the majority of the teams will not be competing in volleyball this season. Unfortunately, this has presented issues with creating a schedule.

As of now we are preparing and planning for CHS athletics to resume competition in January with basketball.

Superintendent's Message | Sept. 17, 2020 & Student/Parent Survey

Tyrrell County Schools Family:

In July, Gov. Roy Cooper announced that schools will operate under plan B, which allowed schools to open under a reduced capacity or plan C, which allowed them to continue instruction through only remote learning. The Tyrrell County School board decided that the school district would open according to plan C (Remote Learning) for the 2020-2021 school year. This method of instructional delivery was selected in order to protect the health and safety of the students, staff and community.

On September 17, 2020, Gov. Roy Cooper announced that he is encouraging the reopening of schools serving grades PK-5 on plan A, which allows students to attend school with minimal social distancing requirements. As a result of this announcement, the Tyrrell County School Board will review the district’s current educational plan and determine if changes are necessary. It is the intention of the school district to deliver quality instruction to all students, while taking steps to ensure the safety for everyone involved.

Therefore, the Tyrrell County School Board will convene on September 28, 2020 to discuss the recommendations from the state officials. Parents and community members are asked to complete the survey on the Tyrrell County Schools webpage to share your input on the reopening of the schools. Once the decision has been made, the Superintendent and district leadership will communicate the plans for implementing instruction at each school level.
