Our school district is informing stakeholders of a positive COVID-19 case affecting Columbia Middle School.

The Tyrrell County Schools Board of Education will hold an open session Emergency Meeting on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 5:30 pm. The only item on the agenda will be COVID-19 Procedures. This meeting and all following will be held at Tyrrell County Schools Central Office located at 1107 Hwy 64 East, Columbia, NC 27925. Our school district is informing stakeholders of a positive COVID-19 case in our TCS Athletic Department.

The Tyrrell County Schools Board of Education met on Monday, August 2, 20021 and voted on the following:

MASKS
-Masks will be optional for all TCS students and staff.
-BUT - ALL students on buses MUST have a mask on per federal law
-PreK are required to wear masks by federal law

COVID Protocols
-No Attestation forms
-We will continue to social distance
-We will continue to use desk shields
-There will be no remote option for students
-Water fountains will remain OFF
-Students can use the bottle filling stations
-Commons spaces (cafe) will be used again
-Sanitation stations will remain in place

Uniforms
The Uniform Policy will be dropped and one final dress code policy will be presented to the board later this week for approval.

Our school district is informing stakeholders of a positive case of COVID of a personnel member at Tyrrell Elementary School. At this time, no students have been asked to quarantine.

Our school district is informing stakeholders of a positive COVID-19 staff member at Columbia High School. At this time, there are no direct exposures that call for quarantine of other staff or students.
